Insurance

Salt Lake Luxury RV Rental requires that all rentals be insured.

Protection Packages

Guests can choose between four different Protection Packages for their trip: Basic, Essential, Peace of Mind, or Stationary.

Each package offers Liability, Comprehensive and Collision, and an array of additional services. Guests will choose from these packages during the booking process on eligible rentals. Deductibles vary for each Protection Package.

When the affiliated Protection Package is in place, the following coverage during the rental period is included:

Up to $300,000 in comprehensive and collision coverage based on the value of the RV

Up to $1M in liability coverage

State statutory limits of liability (with an option for $500,000 with the Peace of Mind package)

24/7 Roadside & Technical Assistance, towing, and tire service*

Covered guests

A guest qualifies for protection for Outdoorsy Insurance Group ( OIG ) bookings if they are at least 25 years old, purchase a Protection Package, and pass a driver verification

Please note that, for Stationary bookings, the minimum required age is 21 years old.

Covered vehicles

Guests are responsible for making sure their trip has been approved for coverage; they can check that a Protection Package has been purchased and applied to their booking from their booking receipt. Please note that coverage is void for the entire booking period if the vehicle enters or attempts to enter Mexico.

**We strongly recommend purchasing the Essential or Peace of Mind protection package.

Exclusions

Protection Packages will cover Comprehensive and Collision damages to the vehicle caused by a covered event; however, as with any insurance policy, there are necessary exclusions to what is considered a ‘covered event’. Outdoorsy Insurance Group does not cover the following:

  1. Losses caused by mechanical or electrical breakdown or failure, normal wear and tear*, lack of maintenance, or damages incurred over time are not covered. Even if damage would otherwise be considered in a covered incident, it will still be denied if the ‘incident’ was found to be caused by failure or breakdown. For instance, if the investigation shows that a fire was caused by a mechanical failure, the fire damage is not covered.
  2. *Normal wear and tear is not covered; wear and tear includes:
    • Dings, dents, and scratches to the exterior of the vehicle that are four inches or less in length or diameter (excludes windshields).
    • Weathering or deterioration of awning fabric.
    • Tire sidewall cracks or deprecated tread from use over time.
    • Any mechanical or suspension component—e.g. engines, transmissions, brakes, exhaust systems, etc.—unless the damage is caused by a collision.

  3. Damages caused by the manufacturer or previous repair defects.
  4. Any part or equipment that is damaged as a direct result of freezing, winterization, or lack of mitigation.
  5. Damages caused by war, riot, terror, political unrest, biological/chemical, nuclear, or radioactive contamination.
  6. Damage to any electronic equipment or accessories—sound, visual, data signals, etc.—unless they are required for the normal operation of the vehicle.
  7. Loss or damage to any personal property belonging to either the host or guest. However, guests are responsible for the host’s property that has been lost or damaged during the trip.

  13. Damage to the vehicle’s interior is not covered under Outdoorsy Insurance Group; guests can purchase optional Damage Protection for interior damage coverage.
  14. Our Protection Package coverage will be voided for rentals entering or attempting to enter Mexico.
  15. Coverage will not be extended to losses caused by vandalism or theft unless a police report is submitted with the claim. A police report must be filed immediately (within 48 hours) following the loss.
